My 55 year old wife is a registered patient at the surgery and through no pre-existing symptoms she experienced a brain haemorrhage at the end of May. The surgery has on file all her contact details and no attempt has been made to contact her for follow-up care. Unfortunately my wife also experienced a hospitalising cardiac event at the beginning of October. Again no contact has been made by the surgery to offer any follow-up care or direction for clinic attendance. No dramatisation is required, but I am disgusted that after two potentially life changing events she hasn’t been offered any consultation other than via phone - no face to face!! I do not believe that her conditions should be dismissed in such a manner. After all, where else can she go?

The single biggest issue is trying to get through on the. Phone. You have a 3+ minute message before you can make a choice, then get another minute before you’re told you’re whatever number in the queue. When I put this to the receptionist I was told they have one person answering the phone!

I called late on a Monday afternoon. The receptionist was calm and efficient asking me questions and informed me of next steps that a GP would call me. GP called me acted fast to establish what was wrong. She was reassuring and explained what would happen and why. Everything was done to ensure my mind was put at rest

I would like to thank Dr Dewberry for referring our family to Anna McCallum the Children and Young Persons Care Coordinator at Bexhill Primary Care Network. She has supported my family and I through some very difficult times recently and I would like to thank her and feel that she should be recognised for her continued support by phoning us sometimes daily to check that we are all ok and that my daughter is ok & for liaising between services and school that have not been there for us in the past. We met Anna for the first time today and she is truly an amazing person. Thank you so much Anna and Dr Dewberry for your continued support that really keeps us all going. Thank you so much to the receptionists who have listened and were compassionate and helped with telephone appointments when I felt really low - you have no idea how much it helps when you feel that low.
